YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 5,5055,429751.4% 54.7%
2024 13,78513,4633222.3% 51.3%
2025 18,10517,2298764.8% 95.9%

In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Indonesia (Jakarta) received 18,105 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 17,229. 4.8% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 2.3%: the rate rose by 2.5 points. Applications rose by 31% compared with 2024 (13,785).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.2% of the applications lodged in Indonesia that year, from 0.0% at the consulates of Austria to 10.1% at those of Croatia. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Indonesia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Indonesia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
