2023 1,3321,13519614.7% 30.6%
2024 1,3941,16218713.4% 22.9%
2025 1,43798830323.5% 20.5%

In 2025, Slovakia’s embassy and consulates in India (New Delhi) received 1,437 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 988. The refusal rate was 23.5%. The refusal rate rose by 10.1 points from 13.4% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 3% compared with 2024 (1,394).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 15.8% of the applications lodged in India that year, from 7.1% at the consulates of Denmark to 46.5% at those of Slovenia. Slovakia’s consulates worldwide refused 9.6%. Slovakia was the 26th most applied-for Schengen state in India.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in India, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
