Luxembourg: visa decisions in India
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 3,090 | 2,651 | 312 | 10.5% | 42.6% |
| 2024 | 3,233 | 2,667 | 498 | 15.7% | 48.0% |
| 2025 | 3,684 | 2,727 | 814 | 23.0% | 47.7% |
In 2025, Luxembourg’s embassy and consulates in India (New Delhi) received 3,684 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,727. 23.0% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 15.7%: the rate rose by 7.2 points, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 14% compared with 2024 (3,233).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 15.8% of the applications lodged in India that year, from 7.1% at the consulates of Denmark to 46.5% at those of Slovenia. Luxembourg’s consulates worldwide refused 14.8%. Luxembourg was the 21st most applied-for Schengen state in India.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in India, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
