Spain: visa decisions in Hong Kong

2023 1,3041,256231.8% 17.0%
2024 1,4161,40820.1% 18.9%
2025 1,9931,96180.4% 16.1%

In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Hong Kong (Hong Kong) received 1,993 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,961. The refusal rate was 0.4%. That is barely different from 2024 (0.1%). Applications rose by 41% compared with 2024 (1,416).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 2.8% of the applications lodged in Hong Kong that year. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Hong Kong.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Hong Kong, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
