YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 3,0911,3331,65955.4% 15.5%
2024 4,1091,5152,41761.5% 18.2%
2025 5,1841,8253,24964.0% 13.7%

In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in Ghana (Accra) received 5,184 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,825. 64.0% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 61.5%: the rate rose by 2.5 points. Applications rose by 26% compared with 2024 (4,109).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 46.5% of the applications lodged in Ghana that year, from 33.5% at the consulates of Germany to 71.9% at those of the Czech Republic. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Ghana.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Ghana, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
