Switzerland: visa decisions in Georgia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 407 | 373 | 32 | 7.9% | 71.3% |
| 2024 | 589 | 548 | 38 | 6.5% | 72.1% |
| 2025 | 773 | 725 | 42 | 5.4% | 76.1% |
In 2025, Switzerland’s embassy and consulates in Georgia (Tbilisi) received 773 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 725. The refusal rate was 5.4%. That is barely different from 2024 (6.5%). Applications rose by 31% compared with 2024 (589).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 13.8% of the applications lodged in Georgia that year, from 3.1% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 33.9% at those of Italy. Switzerland’s consulates worldwide refused 12.5%. Switzerland was the 4th most applied-for Schengen state in Georgia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Georgia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
