Italy: visa decisions in Georgia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 242218249.9% 74.8%
2024 508466367.1% 33.7%
2025 54836218633.9% 34.5%

In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Georgia (Tbilisi) received 548 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 362. The refusal rate was 33.9%. The refusal rate rose by 26.9 points from 7.1% in 2024, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 8% compared with 2024 (508).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 13.8% of the applications lodged in Georgia that year. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 6th most applied-for Schengen state in Georgia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Georgia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
