Germany: visa decisions in Georgia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 44425518441.4% 83.9%
2024 53636716631.0% 89.9%
2025 54043010519.4% 82.8%

In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Georgia (Tbilisi) received 540 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 430. The refusal rate was 19.4%. The refusal rate fell by 11.5 points from 31.0% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. The number of applications was almost unchanged (536 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 13.8% of the applications lodged in Georgia that year, from 3.1% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 33.9% at those of Italy. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 7th most applied-for Schengen state in Georgia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Georgia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
