Austria: visa decisions in Georgia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 2,2461,86637816.8% 18.2%
2024 2,7472,34839914.5% 19.0%
2025 2,8722,43632811.9% 22.6%

In 2025, Austria’s embassy and consulates in Georgia (Tbilisi) received 2,872 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 2,436. The refusal rate was 11.9%. The refusal rate fell by 2.7 points from 14.5% in 2024. Applications rose by 5% compared with 2024 (2,747).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 13.8% of the applications lodged in Georgia that year, from 3.1% at the consulates of the Netherlands to 33.9% at those of Italy. Austria’s consulates worldwide refused 11.9%. Austria was the most applied-for Schengen state in Georgia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Georgia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
