Denmark: visa decisions in Egypt

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 1,24788928424.1% 50.2%
2024 1,52480260542.6% 47.8%
2025 2,0401,34360931.2% 62.6%

In 2025, Denmark’s embassy and consulates in Egypt (Cairo) received 2,040 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 1,343. The refusal rate was 31.2%. The refusal rate fell by 11.4 points from 42.6% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 34% compared with 2024 (1,524).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 24.2% of the applications lodged in Egypt that year, from 4.4% at the consulates of Romania to 50.9% at those of Sweden. Denmark’s consulates worldwide refused 21.9%. Denmark was the 16th most applied-for Schengen state in Egypt.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Egypt, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
