2024 1,06766836435.3% 53.3%
2025 1,48981660942.7% 36.9%

In 2025, Croatia’s embassy and consulates in Egypt (Cairo) received 1,489 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 816. 42.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 35.3%: the rate rose by 7.4 points, a sharp increase. Applications rose by 40% compared with 2024 (1,067).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 24.2% of the applications lodged in Egypt that year, from 4.4% at the consulates of Romania to 50.9% at those of Sweden. Croatia’s consulates worldwide refused 18.5%. Croatia was the 19th most applied-for Schengen state in Egypt.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Egypt, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
