2024 12,3218,2504,07033.0% 100.0%
2025 12,3968,1184,27834.5% 99.9%

In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Ecuador (Quito) received 12,396 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 8,118. The refusal rate was 34.5%. That is barely different from 2024 (33.0%). The number of applications was almost unchanged (12,321 in 2024).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 30.9% of the applications lodged in Ecuador that year, from 18.1% at the consulates of Germany to 38.2% at those of Hungary. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the 2nd most applied-for Schengen state in Ecuador.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Ecuador, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
