Spain: visa decisions in Colombia

YearApplicationsVisas issuedRefusedRefusal rateMultiple-entry share
2023 3633183710.3% 52.2%
2024 4163674310.4% 49.3%
2025 3342853510.9% 45.6%

In 2025, Spain’s embassy and consulates in Colombia (Bogotá) received 334 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 285. 10.9% of applications were refused. In 2024 the rate was much the same, 10.4%. Applications fell by 20% compared with 2024 (416).

For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.0% of the applications lodged in Colombia that year. Spain’s consulates worldwide refused 14.6%. Spain was the most applied-for Schengen state in Colombia.

You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Colombia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
