Germany: visa decisions in Colombia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 61 | 55 | 3 | 5.1% | 98.2% |
| 2024 | 43 | 38 | 2 | 4.9% | 65.8% |
| 2025 | 87 | 77 | 5 | 6.1% | 35.1% |
In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Colombia (Bogotá) received 87 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 77. The refusal rate was 6.1%. That is barely different from 2024 (4.9%). Applications rose by 102% compared with 2024 (43).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.0% of the applications lodged in Colombia that year. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 3rd most applied-for Schengen state in Colombia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Colombia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
