In fiscal year 2025 (October 2024 to September 2025) the United States issued 11,892 nonimmigrant visas to citizens of Canada, the 73rd highest number of the 206 nationalities listed. Work and treaty visas (H, L, O, E and others) made up 78%, diplomatic and official visas 12% and fiancé(e) visas 5%. The total was about the same in fiscal year 2024.

From October 2025 to February 2026, citizens of Canada received 4,196, 7% fewer than in the same months a year earlier.

For visitor visas (B1/B2) the State Department reports an adjusted refusal rate of 53.1% for citizens of Canada in fiscal year 2025 (fiscal year 2024: 56.4%). The adjusted rate counts a refusal that was later overcome, for example with further documents, as an issuance. A rate below 3% is one of the conditions for a country to join the Visa Waiver Program.

These figures count visas issued to citizens of Canada anywhere in the world, not only at the US missions in Canada.
