Italy: visa decisions in Armenia
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 20,380 | 17,293 | 3,084 | 15.1% | 32.6% |
| 2024 | 21,089 | 18,326 | 2,763 | 13.1% | 33.8% |
| 2025 | 23,644 | 22,183 | 1,461 | 6.2% | 42.2% |
In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Armenia (Yerevan) received 23,644 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 22,183. The refusal rate was 6.2%. The refusal rate fell by 6.9 points from 13.1% in 2024, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 12% compared with 2024 (21,089).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 10.9% of the applications lodged in Armenia that year, from 0.9% at the consulates of Romania to 21.9% at those of Greece. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the most applied-for Schengen state in Armenia.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Armenia, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
