Italy: visa decisions in Albania
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 368 | 341 | 13 | 3.5% | 68.0% |
| 2024 | 312 | 267 | 31 | 9.9% | 85.4% |
| 2025 | 343 | 317 | 26 | 7.6% | 68.1% |
In 2025, Italy’s embassy and consulates in Albania (Tirana and Vlorë) received 343 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 317. 7.6% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 9.9%: the rate fell by 2.4 points. Applications rose by 10% compared with 2024 (312).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.4% of the applications lodged in Albania that year. Italy’s consulates worldwide refused 10.8%. Italy was the most applied-for Schengen state in Albania.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Albania, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
