Hungary: visa decisions in Albania
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 30 | 28 | 2 | 6.7% | 32.1% |
| 2024 | 35 | 31 | 4 | 11.4% | 16.1% |
| 2025 | 27 | 24 | 2 | 7.7% | 41.7% |
In 2025, Hungary’s embassy and consulates in Albania (Tirana) received 27 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 24. 7.7% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 11.4%: the rate fell by 3.7 points. Applications fell by 23% compared with 2024 (35).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.4% of the applications lodged in Albania that year. Hungary’s consulates worldwide refused 13.0%. Hungary was the 8th most applied-for Schengen state in Albania.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Albania, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
