Germany: visa decisions in Albania
| Year | Applications | Visas issued | Refused | Refusal rate | Multiple-entry share |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 117 | 99 | 17 | 14.7% | 93.9% |
| 2024 | 118 | 92 | 26 | 22.0% | 92.4% |
| 2025 | 152 | 140 | 12 | 7.9% | 85.7% |
In 2025, Germany’s embassy and consulates in Albania (Tirana) received 152 applications for short-stay Schengen visas and issued 140. 7.9% of applications were refused. In 2024 it had been 22.0%: the rate fell by 14.1 points, a clear improvement for applicants. Applications rose by 29% compared with 2024 (118).
For comparison, all Schengen states together refused 5.4% of the applications lodged in Albania that year. Germany’s consulates worldwide refused 13.1%. Germany was the 5th most applied-for Schengen state in Albania.
You apply to the Schengen state that is your main destination (the longest stay or the main purpose; the state of first entry only when there is none), so a lower rate elsewhere is no reason to apply there. The figures cover applications lodged in Albania, by any nationality: mostly citizens, but also residents from other countries.
