Work ban and refusals

A student found working by the Gendarmerie or the Labour Office inspectors has the study permit revoked immediately and is removed from San Marino. The permit is refused when criminal proceedings for intentional offences punishable by more than one year are pending, after such a conviction, after an expulsion in the previous ten years or when a Schengen entry ban is known; after a refusal, a new application is possible only after 120 days. Applicants under 14 do not need to produce criminal record or pending charges certificates.

Rights

Unless a bilateral agreement says otherwise, holders of a study permit are not entitled to free healthcare or economic benefits, which is why private cover is required.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Enrol on a recognised course in San Marino.
  2. Arrange insurance, housing and certificates.
  3. Book an appointment with the Foreigners Office.
