How visas for Micronesia work
The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) controls entry through entry permits under Title 50 of the FSM Code, the Immigration Act. Noncitizens need an appropriate entry permit to enter or remain, unless the law exempts them, and the central exemption is simple: no permit is required for a visit of 30 days or less.
Longer or purpose-specific stays use one of the permit categories in section 103 of the Act: visitor, student, foreign government official, salesperson, alien worker, foreign investor, researcher, missionary, spouse of a citizen and dependants. Permits are generally limited to one year and can be renewed. Applications go to the Division of Immigration, which operates under the Office of the Attorney General in Palikir, Pohnpei, using a single entry permit application form.
Citizens and nationals of the United States, the Marshall Islands and Palau benefit from longer permitted visit periods linked to the Compacts of Free Association. A noncitizen who stays as a visitor for a year or more becomes a habitual resident and may then only make 30-day visits or hold one of the longer permit types.
Which visa do I need?

Visit longer than 30 days: entry permit for up to 60 additional days.
