Mauritania eVisa
Mauritania electronic entry visa (eVisa)
In short
Foreigners who need a visa for Mauritania apply for an electronic entry visa on the ANRPTS website, choosing a 30-day, 90-day or 360-day package. The request is referred to the competent authorities; once approved, the visitor prints the eVisa and travels with it, and the border authorities complete the technical formalities on arrival at any international port of entry. Passports must be valid for at least six months.

Who needs the eVisa
All foreigners who are not exempt need a visa. Exemptions apply under reciprocal agreements to nationals of Mali, The Gambia, Niger, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Tunisia, Libya, Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria, Chad and Burkina Faso. Diplomatic, service and UN staff passport holders may receive free or courtesy visas.
Long-duration visas
Employees and workers who travel frequently without staying long enough to apply for residence can have their employer request long-duration visas of 3, 6, 12 months or more from the competent authorities, with supporting evidence of why a residence card cannot be requested.
Passport rules and the online form
Your passport must be valid for at least six months; holders of passports valid for less than six months cannot obtain an entry visa without prior authorisation from the competent authorities. People whose passports have fully expired cannot obtain exit visas without a laissez-passer from their own country's authorities or representatives in Mauritania.
The request runs through five stages, visa options, passport, traveller, details and review, before you choose a package and move to payment. You upload a passport image and a photo, which the form checks against the passport’s machine-readable zone and your face, enter the travel document number, issue and expiry dates and place of issue, your personal details, profession, email and telephone, the reason for travel, the planned arrival date and your address in Mauritania. The form also asks which countries you visited recently for health purposes, and a company can apply as sponsor with its name, tax identification number, address and contact person.

How it works
After entering the ANRPTS website and completing the visa request, the application is referred to the competent authorities. Once it is approved, you print the eVisa and use it to travel and enter Mauritanian territory. On arrival, the authorities at the crossing point complete the technical side of the process. Reception centres for arrivals operate at Nouakchott and Nouadhibou international airports, at the km 55 crossing near Nouadhibou, at Rosso and Diama on the Senegalese border and at Gogui Zemal on the Malian border.
- Check whether your nationality is exempt under a reciprocal agreement.
- Open the eVisa request on the ANRPTS website and upload your passport image and photo.
- Fill in traveller details, reason for travel, arrival date and address, then review.
- Choose the 30, 90 or 360-day package and pay.
- Track the request, print the approved eVisa and present it at the arrival reception centre.
Leaving after the visa expires
People who want to leave Mauritania after their visa period has ended without renewing it can obtain an exit visa at any of the border crossing points. Holders of passports that have completely expired cannot obtain an exit visa without a laissez-passer issued by their own country’s authorities or by its representation in Mauritania.
