Who qualifies

The training must give you special skills and knowledge that are not available in your country of domicile, and its length and content must be justified. You must have no security objection and no known record of serious crime, and you must meet normal immigration requirements such as holding a valid passport and not being likely to become a burden on Hong Kong.

The sponsor must be a well-established company able to provide the training. It signs a contract with you and gives a written guarantee covering your maintenance and repatriation, and the training must take place on its premises until the agreed period ends. Nationals of Afghanistan, Cuba and the DPRK are excluded.

Documents from you and the sponsor

You provide a recent photo, your passport, a Hong Kong identity card if you have one, and proof of your academic qualifications and work experience. The sponsoring company provides the training contract stating the post, salary, benefits and training periods, its Business Registration Certificate, proof of financial standing and background information on the company, plus a business plan if it was set up within the past 12 months.

Some company documents may be waived if the sponsor obtained a visa for a non-local staff member in the past 18 months. Documents not in English or Chinese need a certified English or Chinese translation.
