Who needs the Gabon e-visa

Anyone who is not covered by a bilateral exemption and flies into Libreville applies for the e-visa. The exemption list published on the portal names ordinary passports of Morocco, Mauritius and South Africa. Diplomatic and service passports of Brazil, Burkina Faso, Benin, South Korea, Cuba, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, France, Russia, Guinea, Israel, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia and Egypt are also exempt, as are diplomatic passports of Germany and Türkiye.

The portal accepts the purposes tourism, business, family visit, visit to friends, medical reasons, professional trip, trade fair or event, mission and other. The e-visa is meant for visits; the DGDI asks those who want to settle in Gabon to follow the residence rules instead.

Documents uploaded with the application

Every applicant uploads a copy of the passport data page and a colour photograph. The passport must remain valid for more than six months after the arrival date. The photo must be less than six months old, 35 x 45 mm, neither over- nor underexposed and without shadows on the face or background.

Depending on the purpose, the DGDI asks for supporting documents such as a hotel booking, a hosting certificate, an invitation letter, a mission order, or medical documentation for a medical stay or medical evacuation. Minors add a parental authorisation and a copy of the parent's passport. Files can be PDF (one page only), JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP.

Fees and payment

The portal shows two price bands. One to three months with a single entry costs EUR 70 or 45,000 FCFA; six months with multiple entries costs EUR 185 or 120,000 FCFA. A file processing fee of EUR 15 applies on top. These amounts were displayed on 24 October 2026.

Payment is made in Libreville on arrival, at Léon Mba International Airport, when the e-visa sticker is handed over.

How the application works

The portal guides you through four steps: choose the e-visa type, fill in the form, add the documents and submit. All data must match the passport exactly. The form also asks for an email address where the e-visa will be sent, the arrival date, and a contact in Gabon with name, hotel or company and telephone number.

The system refuses a second request for the same passport while one is still being validated, or for dates that fall within the validity of an existing e-visa. After submission you receive an application number that you can use to check the status or cancel the request.

  1. Check the exemption list on the DGDI e-visa portal; if your passport type is not listed, you need the e-visa.
  2. Choose the category: single entry for one, two or three months, or multiple entry for six months.
  3. Complete the form exactly as in your passport, with arrival date, email address and a contact in Gabon.
  4. Upload the passport page, the photo and the supporting documents for your purpose of travel, then submit and note the application number.
  5. Wait for the decision, which takes up to 72 hours after the DGDI receives the file, and keep the travel authorisation receipt.
  6. Fly to Léon Mba International Airport in Libreville on or after your declared arrival date, pay the fee and receive the visa sticker.

Processing time and travel date

The DGDI processes the request within 72 hours after receiving it and does not offer faster handling. Do not board before the arrival date given in the application and do not travel without the travel authorisation receipt: under Law No. 5/86 of 18 June 1986, travellers who ignore these rules are sent back.

Extending your stay

Like other Gabonese visas, the e-visa can be extended at the visa department of the DGDI in Libreville: a one-month visa by two months and a two-month visa by one month. Three-month and six-month visas are not extended, so choose the length you need when applying.

Contact

Questions go to the e-visa cell of the DGDI, BP 1019, Zone Industrielle d'Oloumi, Libreville, telephone +241 01 77 03 24, or through the contact form on the portal.
