Who can use the e-visa
According to the DGM portal, three groups can apply: nationals of any country where the DRC has no diplomatic representation, foreigners coming to the DRC on business, and foreigners coming for a visit or tourism. Three kinds are listed: the specific visa volant, the ordinary visa volant and the visa volant for family visits.
Ordinary and specific visa volant
The ordinary visa volant is valid seven days. The specific visa volant is valid thirty days and is marked on the portal as the professional option. The e-visa itself must be used within three months of issue; at the border it gives the right to a seven-day single-entry airport visa (visa aéroportuaire, VAP), which the portal describes as extendable.
Fees
The portal lists USD 250 for the ordinary visa volant and USD 800 for the specific visa volant, plus a file fee of USD 50. Its FAQ gives the same breakdown for the ordinary e-visa (USD 300 in total, of which USD 50 are administrative costs) and stresses that the administrative fee is not refundable.
Other FAQ answers state that the VAP stamped at the point of entry costs USD 90, payable at the border. Because the portal presents both amounts, confirm with the DGM before travel which payments you will face.
