Angola eVisa: applying online with the SME
SME eVISA online visa application (evisa.ao)
In short
Angola's official eVISA portal, run for the Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros at evisa.ao, collects visa applications and scanned documents online and sends them to the SME. For tourist visas it targets a decision within 72 hours and emails the approved entry visa, which is shown on arrival. Tourists from the 98 visa-exempt countries do not need it for stays of up to 30 days.

What the eVISA portal is for
The portal describes itself as the official government platform of the SME, the central body of Angola's Ministry of the Interior responsible for entry, transit, exit and stay of foreigners. It is operated technically by a contractor on the SME's behalf. Its main use is the tourist visa for travellers whose nationality is not exempt, and it also shows the full exemption list.
The SME's English notes explain that the online service collects the application and forwards it securely; it is aimed at applicants who live far from a consulate. For visa categories that require an interview or biometrics, the online filing does not replace the visit to the consulate, where originals are presented and the fee may be collected.
Documents and scan specifications
For a tourist eVISA you upload the passport bio page (at least six months' validity), a photo, the yellow fever vaccination certificate, a return flight reservation and accommodation booking, and proof of funds. The SME publishes strict file rules: grayscale scans at 100 to 150 dpi on A4, JPEG or TIFF files, a face photo of about 381–571 by 496–744 pixels up to 200 KB, and multi-page documents combined into one TIFF file. Files must be saved first; the site does not accept direct scanner input.
Applications that do not meet the technical specifications may be rejected or delayed, so use the preview step before submitting.
The SME also limits the passport image to about 480–1000 by 340–720 pixels and 70 KB, and supporting documents to about 810–1250 by 1150–1770 pixels, up to 150 KB as JPEG or 10,240 KB as TIFF. For consular visa types the passport must be valid for at least one year with four blank pages.
